What Happened Was
It all started with a missed flight and an airport overnight...
Karyn was on cloud nine after a life-changing trip to Europe. However, her initial flight from Spain was delayed which started a domino effect of problems; changing airlines with a checked bag meant rechecking luggage after customs.
She sprinted through the airport, but still missed the flight. She called a cold metal airport bench her bed that night. Instead of sleeping, she dreamed of traveling with nothing but a carry-on.
As she thought about how to do that, it became clear that she was always taking more than she needed; with more than a few things never worn.
There had to be a better way.
She started planning tops and bottoms that could be mixed and matched to create more outfits with fewer pieces of clothing. She took scarves to add color and diversity to the pieces making halter tops, belts and neck accessories without the bulk. After her first 10-day trip with just her carry-on bag, she knew it could be done with ease and no repeats.
After researching fabrics and styles that were flattering to all body types and easy to wear more than one way, she decided to go for a fully sustainable line to help the planet at the same time.
An added bonus of sustainable fabrics is that many have technical attributes that make them not only better for the planet but also better for you when you travel; odor-resistant, moisture wicking, temperature modulating, washable and low wrinkle.
When Karyn shared the idea with a few friends it became clear that this was an idea that had a market; and ZoeGoes was born.
